De Doelen Concert Center (Rotterdam)

Built after the project of the architects E.H.A & H.M.J.H. Kraaijvanger, R.H.Fledderus between 1955 and 1966, Rotterdam Concert Hall has a square plan shared by a number of principal forms.

It was created in visual opposition to high-rise business centre and aimed to express a cultural function in the urban space, Jan Hoogstad rebuilt this center in 1993-1999 when the Conservatorium, the Dance Academy and a congress center were added. In 2013-2014. De Doelen participates in tha city centre reconstruction project.
