One of the most significant political uprisings in Goa took place on January 26, 1852, when Deepaji Rane raised a banner of revolt against the Portuguese regime from the fort of Nanus on the bank of the river Mahadeyi in Satari, which went on for about three and a half years. These heritage sites were remembered and trekked by history lovers from various parts of Goa recently.
