On June 27 1941 68 Lithuanian Jews were massacred by Lithuanian nationalists led by the Lithuanian para-military commander Algirdas Klimaitis. The massacre was instigated by SS Brigadeführer Franz Walter Stahlecker, commanding officer of Einsatzgruppe A
