Second World War 1939-1945, Holocaust, concentration camp
20,000 prisoners, mainly Jews, passed through this camp. On November 3, 1943 as part of Aktion Erntefest (Operation Harvest Festival en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aktion_Erntefest ) almost the entire Jewish population of the camp, about 10,000 Jews were taken to pits and shot.
The camp also earlier served as a Nazi training base for German recruits from Ukraine.
