Hennepin Canal State Trail >Small park and picnic area.
This small park and picnic area features a well preserved tow-path type canal lock with equipment. The park is just a small part of the much larger Hennepin Canal State Park and Trail. A mile or so to the east is the junction of the feeder canal to the main canal. Main canal length: 75.2 miles. The feeder canal, which flows south from the Rock River supplies water for the Hennepin Canal for both east and west flow directions. The junction is the high point of the system. The feeder canal’s length: 29.3 miles. Almost all the shore is easily reached via the hike and bike trail on one side and some times a grass covered horse trail on the opposite side.

FISHING

So doing the math (75+29)x2=208 miles. That is 104 miles of running length of both canals, time two, there two sides to a canal, equals 208 miles of mostly accessible shoreline to fish from. That is probable the most shore fishing in Illinois. The fish are: pan fish types, Bass, ?game fish>>might swim down the feeder canal from Rock River? Carp and Suckers both in water and on shore types. There are many little pull offs to enjoy the water at the several bridges that cross the feeder canal!
