Wangdue Ecolodge is a family managed ecotourism venture, located in Damina village, Rubesa in the Wangdue district, which is the ideal location to explore west and central Bhutan. Built on the ancestral land of the family, the valley faces the confluence of the Dang Chu and PunaTsang Chu. Perched on a high ridge it commands a great view of the Wangdue Dzong nested within the himalayan mountain landscape of Punakha valley.
The ecolodge is built around the ancestral home, which was refurbished to accommodate a lounge and bar for our guests in the ground floor, while the family continues to live above. Another traditional building was added to house the Dining and Kitchen below and a conference room above.
The Four Cottages having two suites each are a short walk along the ridge. Each Eco-Suite is self contained for a couple or family, having the option for twin beds or a king sized bed. Along with its large dressing and bathroom suite. The bedroom leads into a large wrap around balcony with the view of the organic farm and villages below and the hills among the clouds above. One could pick up a book and read here for hours or just soak in the ever changing Bhutanese landscape.
