Original building was constructed in 1645 by Claes Edenberg as a private palace. From 1710 the building was used as the town hall and the headquarter of the Uppsala city' administration. The building received its current exterior in 1883. Town Hall was the property of Uppsala city and after the inauguaration of the new city' hall in 1964 on Vaksalagatan the Old Town Hall was closed for the restoration. Municipal administrations moved to the new City Hall, but the city council continued to use the old building for meetingsuntil 1971.
The last municipal administrations moved out in 2008 and the property was acquired by Atrium Ljungberg and after an extensive refurbishment and extension in 2012 the Old City Hall was opened as a shopping aracade with a number of stores and restaurants.
