Historic Place: Katpur was originally called Kundanpur and was the residence town of Raja Bhishmak, the father of Rukmani. She was angaged to Shishupal, the Raja of Chedi Desh. But because of her intense love for Krishna, she requested Krishna to carry her off. Her brother Rukhmaiyo followed Krishna and confronted near Bhadrod. In the battle Rukhmaiyo was defeated and Lord Krina carried Rukhmani to Madhavpur where he married her. Afterwards Katpur was called Kankavati Nagari after Kanaksen Chavda, who settled there.
