Angelokastron Fortress

A ruined medieval fortress on the northern edge of the modern settlement. It was one of the main castles of the Akarnanian-Aitolian portion of the Despotate of Epirus in the Late Middle Ages. The site was previously a citadel of earlier Greek settlements, namely Konope (subsequently renamed Arsinoe).
