Old Bayazıt (Armenian: Դարոյնք, Պայազատ, Turkish: Eski Doğubeyazıt) - formerly Armenian village near Bayazıt (Doğubeyazıt) town, at the slopes around the Ishak Pasha Palace, only few walls remained. The reason and the date for giving up the settlement is unclear: whether as the result of the battles between Russian and Turkish troops in WW I, or due to the suppression of a Kurdish uprise or just because the town had to be relocated due to lack of space. (Native (Armenian) population was massacred by Turks during the Armenian genocide at 1915-23).
