panoramic view, pedestrian area, footbridge
This pedestrian bridge over the Genesee River links parks on both banks and provides picture-perfect views upstream and downstream. It is 670 feet (204m) long and is 100 feet (30m) above the river. A large pipeline runs under the bridge deck. Seneca Park, on the east bank, includes a zoo, playground, picnic area, a pond, and miles of scenic hiking trails designed by Frederick Law Olmsted (who also designed Central Park in New York City). At both ends are long, sloping ramps that provide comfortable access for pedestrians and bicyclists. The gradient of the ramps is low enough to accommodate powered wheelchairs.
