Built in October 1942 to replace the temporary SCR-268 radar set. The SCR-271A antenna rig was permanently mounted on a 100-foot steel latticed tower mounted on concrete piers, and the operations equipment and emergency generators were housed in a 100-foot tunnel dug into the hillside accessed by a 50-foot tunnel. The pyramid-roofed structure next to the tower foundations served as both ventilation shaft and communication cable conduit.
