Roman Garrison

The northern part of the city was transformed into a military garrison for Roman troops, with the whole infrastructure of a usual military installation as barracks, baths, temples, a small amphitheatre etc.. It is an exception that a garrison like this was built into existing infrastructure of a city. Normally garrisons were built outside a city (see Palmyra or Bosra)
