Trench

Syria / al-Ladiqiyah / al-Hhaffah /
artificial trench that separates the castle from the mountain ridge, 28 m deep, 14-19m wide it was cut into the rocks on a length of 150 m, by this enormously enhancing the defencive capabilities of the castle. Acces to the castle was via a drawbridge, that used a remaining rock-pillar to reach the other side of the trench.
