Excellent public library, run by intelligent librarians who regularly conduct programs for the benefit of Starkville residents. Currently expanding the young adult's section, the Starkville Public Library is dedicated to the education and inspiration of Mississippi youth and to serving the community.

Collections include adult non-fiction, adult fiction, biographies, large print, children's fiction, children's non-fiction, genealogy, reference, movies, educational materials, music, as well as an up-coming young adult's section. Book sales are held every month by Friends of the Library. The "fifty-cent" room is open every day.

Students and staff of Mississippi State University can use their MSU ID cards as library cards. First time cards are free, however replacement cards cost $3.00. Please bring proof of local address (driver's license, phone bill, apartment lease, etc.).

The Starkville Public Library is part of a consortium with members including Mississippi State University and Mississippi University for Women. Books can be exchanged among these member libraries with "holds" picked up at the local library. Patrons of the library can also use their library cards on location at member libraries.

The Starkville Public Library is located at the corner of Main Street and Montgomery Street and is open from 9:00am-6:00pm on Monday through Thursday and 9:00am-4:00pm on Friday and Saturday (closed on Sunday).
