Kahnuj Combined Cycle Power Plant (Shobad) aims to supply electricity for Iran's southeastern region, and bolster the transmission and distribution network. A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was signed between the financer and Ministry of Power for construction of Kahnuj Combined Cycle Power Plant.
MAPNA Group kicked off Phase I of the construction operation in winter of 2013.
The first gas-fired unit started operation in late 2014, and the second gas-fired unit came into operation in early 2015.
The steam portion of the power plant was synchronized to the grid in summer of 2016.
Kahnuj Combined Cycle Power Plant includes 2 gas-fired units with a capacity of 324 MW (162 MW each) and a 160 MW steam unit.
The V94.2 gas turbine and the E Type E30-16-1-1 × 6.3 steam turbine have been used in the plant.
A consortium led by MAPNA Combined Cycle Power Plants Construction & Development (MD-2) Company was responsible for construction of the power plant.
