Built in 1824. One of the first few mosques to be built on the island. Rebuilt in 1920 by Swan and Maclaren, who were also responsible for Singapore’s other important landmarks. A mix of Classical, Persian, Moorish and Turkish styles. Has a capacity of 2000 people.

Gazetted National Monument of Singapore on 14th March 1975.
