military, missile launch facility

Originally known as Army Launch Area 2, LC36 has been used for a wide variety of testing programs since 1958. This started with the launch of Redstone missiles, but the site was soon used for NASA testing during Apollo, used for both Little Joe rockets and the Apollo Launch Escape System testing. Since 1966, LC36 has been used primarily for sounding rocket use, notably the Black Brant series.
