Former Northwest Airlines Maintenance Base opened in 1996, Northwest's base was part of a $371 million financial bailout package the state put together for the financially strapped carrier. The maintenance hangar was for their Airbus A320s. Northwest had promised to employ at least 350 workers at the base for the 30 years of its lease, however in 2006, they broke the promise citing things that were beyond their control, such as a mechanics strike and 9/11.

In November of 2012 AAR reopened the Maintenance Facility, and has aggressively expanding ever since. The facility is currently dedicated to the single-aisle Airbus fleet, exclusively servicing the A319, A320 and A321. AAR was on track to open a fourth line of maintenance in September 2014.
