Polpitiya Village - In Sinhala (native language of Sri Lanka) 'pol' reefers to coconut and 'pitiya' reefers to play ground. According popular usage Polpitiya was embraced to call the place, where King Walagambahu whilst hiding in the area after loosing a battle, played coconut - traditional Sri Lankna game in which one player throws a coconut missile from a distance towards second player, challenging him to hit the coconut missile with another coconut held in hand and crush it. If the second player crushed the opponents coconut he win a point and vice versa
