Since 2012, Athlone’s Luan Gallery has showcased both national and international visual art projects, ensuring a varied and engaging arts programme is delivered to the people of Athlone.
The gallery, built at a cost of €3.4 million, extends the well-known 1897 Fr Matthew Temperance Hall, which over the years has held many roles including cinema, town hall, library, and concert hall. Luan Gallery has won both the RIAI Best Cultural Building 2013 and the coveted Civic Choice award in 2014.
