mine, gold mine

Kiaka is owned by B2Gold Corp. through their wholly-owned Burkina Faso subsidiary Kiaka Gold SARL. It is one of the largest undeveloped gold resources in West Africa 4.86 million ounces in Measured and Indicated Categories and 1.10 million ounces in the Inferred Category of which, 3.89 million ounces is in Proven and Probable Reserve Categories. The bulk of the gold is contained within a single open pit in the circa 200m wide and 1.5km long KMZ orebody and studies indicate a >10 year mine life based on processing 12 million tonnes of ore per year for average annual production of 340,000 ounces per year.
The Kiaka Project is situated within the intersection of the Tenkedogo Belt and the Markoye
Fault Zone. The deposit sits on a secondary splay off the north- trending crustal
scale Markoye Fault. The main rock types within the area consist of amphibolite, schist,
volcanosediments and conglomerates. More detailed work in the hanging wall of the main
zone of mineralisation also indicates the presence of quartz feldspar porphyry and mafic
intrusions.
The current extent of the mineralized zone has been traced for 1.9 km with the widest portion of the deposit measured at 1,500 m along strike with an orebody thickness varying from 50 to 260m (across strike) at its widest portion. Two styles of mineralisation have been indentified to date during the exploration programmes. A wide zone that is well defined by a 0.25 to 0.30 g/t halo has been indentified within areas of large scale deformation such as the KMZ. Within these broadly mineralised zones, are higher grade portions of the main zone which are described in this report as mineralised bands.
