"Balkhash" high-precission ICBM reentry vehicle tracking facility at IP-14 of ONIS-43

The "Balkhash" system is a derivative of "Vega" system (perhaps its Vega-K variant) developed by NIIRI Kharkov, Ukraine. Abbreviation NIIRI is for Nauchno-Issledovatelnyi Institut Radiotekhnicheskich Izmerenyi = Scientific and Research Institute on Radio Engineering Measurements (which is literal translation). NIIRI was a part of Soviet armament industry, but it is still active today.

The "Vega" system is a radio-interferometric device working on two 6 km long bases, here in perpendicular figure. Using the microwave band at 3.9 cm, its range is about 2500 km. For its history a further details, see NIIRI webpage referenced below.

It is highly probable the orientation of interferometric bases of the "Vega" system at IP-14 corresponds to the expected ICBM reentry vehicles arrival direction (branch heading from IP-14 to NW is parallel, branch heading from IP-14 to NE is perpendicular to the warheads orthodrome).

It is highly probable the linear structure (aisle cut in the tayga forest) found some 30 km NEE off IP-14 is parallel to the NE branch of IP-14 interferometer and is of the same length, approximately.
