This is the area that covers the Trident Project which was obtained by First Quantum Minerals Limited (FMCL)through the acquisition of Kiwara PLC in February 2010. The Trident Project consists of the Sentinel copper mine and Enterprise nickel mine developments. The Sentinel Copper Mine started commissioning in June 2014 and first production was expected for year end 2014.

The full Sentinel large scale mining licence covers 249.00km2 and tenure is held through the grant of a large scale mining licence designated 15868-HQ-LML under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals Development Act, 2008. The licence certificate was issued on the 13th May 2011. The licence was granted to Kalumbila Minerals Limited (Kalumbila), on 20th April 2011 and is valid for a period of 25 years. The mining licence 15868-HQ-LML expires on 19th April 2036. The licence confers an exclusive right to mine copper, nickel, cobalt, gold, platinum group minerals, silver, iron and selenium. Kalumbila (a wholly owned subsidiary of FQML) holds a 100% interest in the largescale mining licence.

Mining of the Sentinel deposit began in January 2014.
