This student apartment complex (commonly found in college towns) is interesting in the fact that used to be a highly problematic low-income apartment complex for years (it was shut down by the city in 1992 for a time), and even after it became Lakewood Villas (still subsidized), it still was falling apart and crime-ridden (including a double murder in 2011). After going into foreclosure and losing its Section 8 status, it was eventually bought, and in late 2013, the complex evicted the last of the remaining tenants for conversion and extensive renovation to its current incarnation (though was named The Hype in the first few years after reopening).
