In May 2013 SpaceX announced that the high-altitude, high-velocity flight test program of Grasshopper v1.1 (the second-generation of the SpaceX experimental VTVL suborbital technology-demonstrator) would be conducted at Spaceport America. SpaceX signed a three-year lease with the spaceport and has constructed a 30 by 30 metre (98 ft × 98 ft) pad at 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) southwest of the spaceport's main campus. It will lease the pad for US$6,600 per month plus US$25,000 per flight. The spaceport administrator expects payments to begin when the site becomes operational. -Adapted from Wikipedia.
