Built in 1908 by William A. Whitman, the Pagoda is perched atop Mount Penn overlooking Reading.

A four-minute segment of the movie The Last Airbender was filmed on the grounds of the Pagoda. Although the Mount Penn landmark does not appear in the film, it was featured in several promotional posters.
