The forest department has just completed the development of the 12km-long forest road including clearing of loose pebbles in the rivulets that are on the route, Molem deputy conservator of forests Anil Kumar said.
Dudhsagar lake comes under Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary in Colem village of Dharbandora taluka and the forest department monitors the entry to the lake.
The delay was due to post-monsoon showers in Colem and at ghat areas bordering the village.
"The road development has just been completed as it is difficult to clear pebbles in the rivulet stretches," he said.
The number of visitors to the lake has marginally increased after authorities designated Dudhsagar waterfalls as 'off bound' for over a year.
