The Scully Ranch is significant for its historic associations with the development of industries (agriculture and clay mining) in the lone area; the first white settlers (the Hicks, Martins and Scullys); the lone area as a transportation center in its early years; the effects of settling the chaos engendered by land title disputations pertaining to the Arroyo Seco Grant — the Scully Ranch was within the boundaries or this grant and was involved therein.
