1923 SAFA - Sociedad Anonima de Fibras Artificiales - was founded by families Vilà and Gillet as SAFA

1926 Rayon begins to be produced at the factory in Blanes with technical help from the "Societé de la Viscose Suisse".

1939 Destroyed during the Spanish War, the factory begins to be rebuilt immediately.

1944 Fibranne starts to be produced.

1954 SAFA produces the first synthetic yarn in Spain: The thread nylon (polyamide 6.6), becoming the very first and most important producer of Nylon 6.6 in Europe.

1976 SAFA manpower reaches 2.670

1986 Rhône-Poulenc group controls 100% of SAFA.

1990 Cogeneration central plant is build in Blanes.

1992 FOY technology begins to be used.

1994 Nylstar SA begins its industrial and commercial activities as an equal joint venture between French group Rhone-Poulenc and the Italian group Snia Bpd (FIAT).

1996 Nylstar launches Meryl

1998 Meryl Nexten is launched as the first hollow core polyamide yarn in the world.

2009 After Nylstar group’s dismantling, Praedium, a Spanish private equity firm buys the Nylstar plant in Blanes.

2010 A new nylon 6.6 yarn additivated with hyaluronic acid is presented by Nylstar in Shanghai.

2013 Production capacity reaches 17.000 tons per year.
