Burns Care is a great passion for Dr.Ramakant Bembde & his team.We have dedicated 20 beds for burns patients. It is one of the busiest Burn Centre in India treating about 250 major burns admissions & more than 1000 outdoor minor burns patients every year since 2003.

Pediatric Burn Centre:We have specialised Pediatric Burn care department with it's special protocol.We manage children having burns including neonates.

Humanitarian Work:
WFW Mission:
Apart from treatment of Acute Burn victims we have also started rehabilitation of Burn survivors with the help of “WFW -Women for Women”
The free Plastic Reconstructive Surgery camp is held every year specially for women with injuries due to domestic violence or social injustice such as burn, acid attacks, etc. It is organized as part of 'Women for Women'(WFW) humanitarian mission under the banner of The International Confederation for Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS).
Women for Women Mission is a totally free Plastic Surgery camp conducting Reconstructive surgeries to restore functional abilities in their face, neck, limbs and fingers in female Burn Survivors from economically & socially deprived strata
having deformities due to burns caused by domestic violence.WFW & IPRAS have selected Bembde Hospital for these missions in India since 2013.
Dr. Neuhann-Lorenz Constance from Germany heading a team of Female Plastic Surgeons & Anesthesiologist from Finland,Germany,Hungary,Switzerland comprising Dr.Outtie, Dr.Christine,Dr.Bernie & Dr.Anna along with Dr.Ramakant Bembde & his Team perform the surgeries.
This is part of Bembde Hospital's humanitarian project to provide the loving touch to the Burn survivors ,helping them psychologically, emotionally, and physically to start their life afresh in spite of disfigurement and deformities!
Highlights of WFW2015 Mission are as below:
1) We operated on total 31 cases compared to last year's 22 cases.
2) We did total 68 surgical reconstructive procedures compared to last year's 42 cases.
3)In April2016, WfW mission at Bembde Hospital for Plastic, Cosmetic,Burns & Hand Surgery we operated total 111 surgeries on 49 patients. It is one of the landmark and record no of cases done in any of the WfW camps anywhere in the world.

Pioneers:
1)Bembde Burn Hospital is especially Pioneer in India about 'Early Mega excisions ' of deep burn wounds & immediate grafting & Tangential early excision of burn wounds & immediate wound cover with grafting.We also perform Supra Facial or Sub Facial excisions for very deep & infected burns.
We have pioneered & are one of the very few burn Centers in India which is routinely doing 25-40% TBSA burn wound excision & Grafting at one stage on 3rd day of burn.Hence we have originally coined the term as 'Mega Excision' in 2005.
2)Bembde Burn Center is also popular destination for performing Meek micro grafting for huge burn wound cover with skin expansion up to 1:6 & mesh grafting with skin expansion up to 1:3.We are the most experienced Burns Centre & Training Centre in India for Meek Micrografting technique of Netherlands since 2006.
Meek Microgarfting is specially needed for those unfortunate patients having extensive deep burns with very small available donor area for harvesting of skin graft.This technique helps to reduce the stages of skin grafting by covering larger wound areas using smaller area of graft at one stage only.We have presented & shared our experience of Meek Microgarfting in International Burn & Plastic Surgery Conferences.

3)'All in One Contractures Release & Reconstruction': Bembde Burn Hospital is reconstructing multiple burn contractures at a single stage surgery in many complicated & deformed burn patients.This technique has advantages of early rehabilitation,economically very cheap & more effective.
4)We are pioneer in the region since 2004,about Tissue Expansion Surgery for cosmetic improvement of burns scars of face & other aesthetically important body areas.Tissue Expansion is also very useful for post-burn alopecia of scalp & other exposed parts of body as it generates similar quality of skin , hence cosmetically a better option.
Dr.Ramakant Bembde has presented his original & pioneering work in Burn Care at many National & International Conferences.

Burn Registry pioneer Project:
It is a great honor that Bembde Burn Hospital being a very reputed Burn Centre in India,is selected by The United Nations Foundation, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare ,National Center for Disease Control & Infosys Inc.to conduct a Pilot Burn Registry among total 8 private burn hospitals & 11Medical colleges throughout India. The goal is to facilitate better data for burn injury surveillance and prevention in India.

Training in Burns:
Bembde Burn Centre is a renown National level Burn Centre in India recommended by National Academy of Burns India for training & fellowship of Junior Plastic Surgeons, General surgeons & Burn hospital nurses & Staff.

Dr. Bembde & his hospital team has keen interest & passion in the prevention of Burns & Hand trauma. We are educating children & workers about prevention of fire,burns & industrial accidents at schools, colleges & industrial sectors regularly as a social responsibility.
Also we teach them primary aid in case of accidental burns.
Also we regularly guide print & electronic media about spreading information in society about fire prevention specially during festive seasons like Diwali,etc.
