  • The Name is driven from the "Syrianeh / Aramaic" language that means the Rock on top of a hill, The geography of the town is on top of a mountain surrounded by three valleys, The river "Shams" passes though the valley giving the town a superb feeling of serenity. A new monastery is being built in the high hill to hold monks and old people sanctuary. The town is surrounded by religious history where Haret Saida holds the church of Mar Elias "Saint Eliyya/Alaija" who did the miracle of resurrecting an orphan according to old bible, also by magdousheh where St. Mary used to wait here son our Lord Jesus while preaching in Galilee. Also it is said that also St. Peter lived in that parts in the land of Saidon. Near the town there is a deep valley called Hell Valley where it can be observed leg steps of ancient men engraved on the stones.
