The Rocca is located south of the historical center of Mondavio (PU) which is the main monument and symbol. It was designed and built between 1482 and 1492 by the military Sienese Francesco di Giorgio Martini, Giovanni Della Rovere to defend the vicarage at a time of serious threats. Around the quarterdeck of the '300 Malatesta Martini invented the architect, expanding it considerably, the new fortification, consisting of a "tower" has 5 floors and a "tower" semicircular. The first was accessible only after passing a series of passive defense: a moat, high walls, drawbridges upstream and downstream, resting on ravelins, the door under the tower, the torrioncino-outpost on the ramp and drawbridge to 'entrance to the keep. Three floors are equipped with artillery and loopholes: the ground floor for the razing, the third half-height for the shot and fifth, embattled, for the long shot and a visual check of the area. The shape of the tower is octagonal base with a large trapezoidal outer walls that rise helically inclined to escape the impact of the bullets; in the upper part projecting cliffs, supported by corbels, to finish in the battlements of the fifth floor.
