Avag (Princial) gate - was one of the main entrances to medieval capital of Armenia - Ani. At the wall inside of the gate ( see pic. 1 ) there was an Armenian Bagratid coat of arms ( see pic. 2 ) that was almost annihilated by Turks during the so-called "restorations" ( see Link 1 ). After that ( see pic.3 ) Tukish plates named this construction as "Lion Gate" with no mentions about Armenian Bagratid dinasty who built this monument.
