Local lore has it that the name "Matli" is derived from the name of Matrika Rishi, (residing at the present "Kyadia Rawa").
However the Village - God is "Lord Kapil Muni". The symbol of the Lord is DHOL & TRISHUL.
Presently the perennial source of hot water is a tourist attraction .
