The house was built for Jesse Lamereaux Wetmore, who was a 49er. Westmore was involved in railroad activity, and on April 24, 1877, he purchased two parcels of land in what would be Piedmont. Westmore built the Victorian home himself with the help, of his brother, William Puddington. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as # 1978000653
