Olympiasee - olympic lake. The lake is an expansion of the Nymphenburg-Biedersteiner channel, constructed in the early 18th century to connect the residences of prince Max Emanuel.
The Olympic lake is part of the olympic park area, layed out for the Olympic Games of 1972. It was not used for any events; the olympic regatta course is located six kilometers to the north.
The lake is split into Kleiner Olympiasee (small olympic lake, western part) und Großer Olympiasee (big olympic lake, central & eastern part).
It is 1.4 m (4.6 ft) deep.
