The Early Bronze Age city of Puzrish-Dagan, located at Drehem (Durayhim) to the southeast of Afaq, was built by King Shulgi of Ur III (c. 2095-2047 BC) as a tax-collection and redistribution center for the royal administration. The city appears to have been abandoned within less than a century, after the third year of Ibbi-Sin of Ur III (c. 2029-2004 BC).
