𒂗𒆤𒆠 Sacred city of the Sumerian god En-Lil. Unique excarvation site as it comprizes layers of civilisation of 5300 years (4500 BC till 800 AC). Though no royal residence but with political importance, Nippur developed as religious center home of the God of winds, Enlil.
Nippur is to be seen as one of the best sites to research the history of central Mesopotamia.
