Good Hope Mine

Lat: 33.7386311
Long: -117.2858717

For it's day, the Good Hope Mine was Southern California's top producing mine. It consisted of 4 miles of tunnels going beneath what is now highway 74, and yielded over $2 million in gold (in the dollars of the time), one third of all gold produced in Southern California.

The mine opened in 1869 and at it's peak it rand 24 hours a day, consisted of 20 buildings and employed 60 people. Flooding kept the mine from producing.
