The theater is located in the historic center of Cagli (PU) .
The construction and decoration of the theater of Cagli occurred between 1871 and 1876 ; The inauguration took place on August 17, 1878 with the opera " The Devil's Violin " written for the occasion by Cav. Augustine Mercuri Sant'Angelo in Vado.
The design of the new theater , built by the architect Giovanni Santini of Perugia, was partially revised by the engineer . Mountains of Bologna after the architect's death ; the decoration of the theater was entrusted to Alessandro Venanzi of Ponte San Giovanni (PG) .
The main front has classical elements such as ashlar and robust cornice resting on shelves, a staircase that leads to the three portals tilts , and fake bricks that are painted in Pompeian red and framed by the four stones , two of which are dedicated to the Savoy , and the large windows of the room to the small -framed gable and sandstone .
After a thorough restoration , the Municipal Theatre was reopened to the public ( around 2000 ) in all its splendor and underwent taken the lead in the cultural activity in the area.
