This is the site of the original outdoor set for the TV show Coronation Street. It ran from Grape Street to the north.
Originally the set here was merely the indoor set which had been used up until this point, except waterproofed and moved outside. It lasted a year before being rebuilt from brick. The set was in this location from 1968 to 1981, before moving 150 metres to the east, on the other side of the bonded warehouse. It is now New York Street, which is part of the Granada Studios Tour theme park.
