Ichalkaranji - Better known as Manchester of Maharashtra. The city is well known for its textile industry. Manufacturing industry also has grown remarkably in last decades. The city, one of the fasted growing cities in Maharashtra, has good facilities for education in arts, commerce, science and engineering.

Ichalkaranji is situated on the banks of river Panchaganga. Ichalkaranji has a cricket stadium named Rajaram Stadium which can hold Ranaji Matches. There is a palace belonging to Shri Narayanrao Babasaheb Ghorpade which is now converted to an engineering institute named Dattajirao Kadam Textile and Engineering Institute Ichalkaranji (DKTEI).

Ichalkaranji is a beautiful city. Its rarely populated and polluted. It's infrasructure is also growing fast.. Ex. - newly constructed cluster roads! Most of the people's lives rotate around the warm wheel of powerlooms, their hearts beats on the "khat-khat" of powerloom.

Ichalkaranji is also the hub for cultural activities. The classical vocal singing was originated by Pandit Balkrishna Bua and the tradition continues. There are academies like Padanyas Kala Mandir, Pandit Balkrishna Bua Sangeet Sadhana Mandal, Smritigandha Kala Academy which are spreading the indian art form in the young generation. They also host many cultural programmes throughout the year which help in spreading cultural awareness amongst people.

  • I found this city a lot change after I came here afetr 10 tears.transformed totally. one can see world top brand shirting co like monti factory , raymond bombay rayon, baldev.now young generation gets very good packages here only . lot of textile engineers are from ichalkaranji.peaceful and hardworking people mixed marathi, gujarati and of course rajasthani cluster is definitely seen in industries n k lakhotia ahmedabad
