  • 12,500 foot heavy duty runway, primary approach is form the South. This is one of seven covert Soviet runways in Cuba. The other six are equally well disguised. Notice the parking pads just a few hundred yards off the runway, and also the very large parking pads at the far North tip of the runway. This runway was designed for an extrmely low, extremely long approach, and the Soviet (and now the Chinese)used the "civilian" airport just to the East of this site as cover to air traffic at the Lourdes site.
