Jai Thai Boxing Gym is a modern, clean and fully equipped Muay Thai and MMA training centre in the heart of Wellington city. We are open 7-days, including Sundays and hold about 40 classes a week catering for people who want to get fit, lose weight and learn some great skills in a friendly environment.
Other than Thai Boxing, we teach MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), Box-Fit (fitness and conditioning), Yoga and Pilates. We also offer one-on-one personal training 7-days for those who have specific training requirements and this can involve competitive sparring, fitness training, pad-work, sport-specific training and weight loss.
Our team includes three professional fighters from Thailand who teach Thai Boxing in a fun and safe manner for all levels from beginners to pro fighters. Muay Thai is Thailand’s national sport and has some similarities to the Kick Boxing, but incorporates elbows, knees and clinch work. Read about the differences in each sport here.
Our MMA trainer and Yoga instructor are also Thai Boxing students, who structure their classes to enhance your kicking and punching power!
At JAI, we specialise in cardio-focused, non-aggressive workouts that burn up to 800 calories per hour. Our challenging routines involve pad work, strength and conditioning drills, punching, kicking bags and shadow boxing. This method of training allows students to get the full physical and mental benefits of Thai Boxing without the need for sparring or fighting.
We teach Thai Boxing movements as a means of developing core strength while toning your muscles and honing your reflexes. There’s no pressure to fight or spar, although we are still very technique-focussed, so you’ll gain skills which can be used in self-defence or competitive situations.
If you are wanting to learn sparring or have plans to compete, we have the most experienced Thai Boxing trainers in New Zealand – our head trainer has over 200 professional fights, with wins against Thai Fight and K-1 champion Buakaw Banchamek and Contender Asia TV-star Naruepol Fairtex.
So whether you are a beginner looking for a fun way to stay fit or an aspiring K-1 champ, our experienced Thai and local trainers can help you reach your goals.
