This area was part of ustasha's camp of death "Jasenovac" during World War II and was used for mass executions. About 360 000 people was killed here and it can be free to say that this area is big mass grave. Memorial zone has grave field "Topole", "Jasen", "Bare", "Hrastovi", "Košute", "Orlovače", "Brijestovi", "Vrbe" and "Tišina".
Symbols of this memorial zone are "Poplar of horror" and "Soap factory".
"Poplar of horror" is poplar tree which was used for hanging and torturing people, and "Soap factory" was plant for producing soap of people bones.
Memorial zone Donja Gradina is placed in the near of highway Belgrade-Zagreb, at border crossing "Donja Gradina".
