Likoma Island (Chipyela)

Likoma Island is the largest of two exclaves surrounded by the Mozambique-controlled part of Lake Malawi (formerly known as Lake Nyasa). The two islands (the other being Chizumulu) are the property of Malawi and administrated as the Likoma district. Likoma has an approximate population of 9 000 permanent residents.
