built in 2009, this reservoir is coupled with the construction of a hydroelectric power station on the Orangechon River with the participation of the PRC. North Korea in 2013 completed the construction of HPP Oranchon-2, part of the cascade of hydroelectric power stations located on the river of the same name. This was reported by the Central Telegraph Agency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (CTC), noting that the late leader of the country Kim Jong Il visited the construction site several times. According to CTAC, the new HPP Oranchon-2 stands on the river Oranchon in the province of North Hamgyon.
