Nothing remains of the structure established in 1285 by the Carthusian Order and abolished in 1769: the original building has been radically changed and the Charterhouse once even housed a cigarette factory and an education institute. It is now used as a training school for prison warders. The church was rebuilt in 1722 as a votive temple with a high, cylindrical drum. The interior is a majestic example of illusionistic decoration and scenic effects by Alessandro Baratta and G.B. Natali. The sacresty and main cloister date back to 16th century, while the smaller cloister with octagonal pillars was built a century before. turismo.comune.parma.it/
