The oldest part of the Institute of Agricultural resources and Economics, which was established from Jauary 1st, 2016.
Priekuli research center has its roots from 1912, when a decision to establish Cēsis experimental station was taken. In 1923 it got a name "Priekuli experimental and selection station" and started to deal also with a selection of crops, potatoes, flax.
Nowadays Priekuli Research center still deals with the selection of crops and seed breeding. Modern methods are introduced in seed breeding. Also organic farming has become as a new research topic amongst others.
